Keynote Presenters

Julie Weatherly, Esq.
Julie is the Founder of RISE, Inc. located in Mobile, Alabama, and has been working with school agencies in special education since 1986. RISE is a full-service legal and consulting business designed to assist educational agencies in avoiding and resolving special education legal disputes arising under the IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADA, and other applicable laws. Julie is a graduate of Presbyterian College and the University of Georgia School of Law. She is a member of the State Bars of Alabama and Georgia and provides consultative and/or legal services to school agencies primarily in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, as well as on a national basis. 
Jim Walsh, Esq.Jim Walsh, Esq. 
Jim graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1975. In 1983, he was one of the three lawyers who founded the firm Walsh Gallegos Tirviño Kyle & Robinson P.C. From the beginning, the focus of the firm was on serving public schools--helping the people who help the kids. In his career of over 40 years, Jim has provided training to all of the service centers in Texas, numerous statewide organizations, and hundreds of school districts. He is the co-author of the "Educator's Guide to Texas School Law", which is used as a textbook in many higher education programs. He has also authored "The Common Sense Guide to Special Education Law". 
Eric HartwigEric Hartwig, Ph.D.
Dr, Hartwig is an experienced school-based Psychologist with a demonstrated history of working in Pupil Services and School Administration. Skilled in behavior analysis, data analysis, professional training, shaving behavioral health, and developing positive personal relationships. He is a strong administrative professional with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) focused on Psychology, Educational Leadership, and Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Hartwig is the author and principle trainer on the b.e.s.t.  Universal Behavior Health Screener, co-author of "Balancing Procedural Practice with Positive Educational Practice", and international speaker and consultant.
